Points of Ecstasy. IV.
Me shrinking people and dogs at the Albany Bulb in San Francisco. Powers.
If you don’t already know what the Albany Bulb is it’s a huge landfill compiled of construction cast offs (iron, concrete etc) that over time has developed life, plants and a functioning ecosystem. It also houses a small homeless populous that have created their own buildings, artwork and even have a library. We spoke to some of the residents while we were there and it was one of the most overwhelming experiences of the whole trip. I’ve never been so stirred by a grown man choking back his tears whilst discussing the possible demolition of what has become his home (the Bulb may be getting developed into a national park). Heavy.
